Adult Acne is No Fun
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne occurring in adults is increasing and it affects up to 15% of women. It is usually caused by changes in hormone levels, which could be from medications, stress, or menopause. Not polled, but pretty confident 100% of those women want the acne to go away. After sharing a little about my acne on Instagram, I received several messages from other women who have struggled with it. I am currently working with a dermatologist to treat the problem skin, but in the meantime, I will be covering the zits with a few favorite drugstore products. See what products I have picked out from the Brandefy vault.
For starters, my dermatologist prescribed two creams and recommended a wash my face twice a day with a gentle drugstore cleanser. Her words - “Something dye and perfume free, like Cetaphil.” Given that I work at Brandefy, I knew I could save even more with the generic version of Cetaphil. Bonus, the one I wanted is offered on Amazon. It’s Mountain Falls Gentle Skin Cleanser. Per the Brandefy Review:
We think this is a really solid dupe from Amazon's Mountain Falls! It is gentle, and free of dyes and perfumes. Plus, it comes in a smaller bottle (in between the large and travel sizes) option which is nice for those who find the Cetaphil kind of clunky.
Of course, I can’t just have spots of concealer, so I will choose a good foundation and use a blending sponge to distribute it. The Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation is a great dupe for Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. Brandefy Says:
*Both brands are certified cruelty-free according to Ethical Elephant. Makeup Maven, Katie, says: Both of these have the same finish, however, the Milani has a longer wear time. The Milani is also more lightweight and more full coverage. Overall the Milani is amazing for its price point. The Too Faced did tend to change color throughout the day, while the Milani stayed the same color all day long. Milani is $9 while Born This Way is $38. Purchase Milani Here
Shop Miss A makes an awesome dupe of the Beauty Blender sponge. At $2, I think I can have a few beauty sponges. This is great because with acne, it’s important I wash my beauty tools regularly. Get it here.
This adult acne is a process and I’m working on my diet and with my products to try and resolve it. Believe it or not, I don’t conceal it everyday. I feel like too many products can’t be a good thing. That said, if I’m going to an event or just want to look my best, I have an arsenal of quality products that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
