Listerine Cool Mint Pocketpaks vs. CVSHealth Breath Strips
Buyers beware: The CVS brand of these strips is super starchy (literally the number one listed ingredient is starch) and has a thick, paper-like texture. We will be sticking to Listerine to keep our breath fresh and happy!
Brandefy compares name brands (i.e., Listerine) to store brands (i.e., CVSHealth) to show you when the generic is as good as the name brand, and to warn you when it is not. Our purpose is to help you save time and money, and to have a good time while doing it.
It's the holidays and that means time to get mistletoe and NYE ready... well we won't judge your holiday plans. We love the idea of being able to keep these little babies in your pocket, so we decided to put them to the test.
The packaging is similar enough with no apparent flaws in either container. However, the similarities basically end there. The Listerine strip is a smooth, light teal. The CVSHealth version is darker in color and is thick and creased, appearing slightly crunchy. When we tasted them, the Listerine dissolved smoothly and had a nice minty flavor throughout. The CVSHealth version was thick and starchy, leaving one Brandefyer to comment that she felt like she had to chew it... ew! This strip was also minty, but the scent did not last as long and it was difficult to concentrate on the minty flavor because we could not get over the texture.
Upon comparing ingredients, we found that the number one listed ingredient in the CVSHealth strips is starch... NOT cool! Listerine has no starch listed. The ingredients are very different, and have only a few items in common.
Brandefy recommends you stick to the name brand on this one... or stay out of the way of the mistletoe ;)
