Best Setting Spray Dupes
With this summer heat, setting makeup is necessary. Spending top dollar on a setting spray is unnecessary. These are our three favorite dupes to date.
*Both brands are certified cruelty-free according to Ethical Elephant. Our makeup maven, Kim, gave a low similarity score for packaging because she PREFERRED Makeup Revolution's more environmentally friendly packaging. Here's what else she has to say:Urban Decay's packaging encases the product in a box and also includes an unnecessary additional cap on top of the spray cap. In terms of the wear, I felt that Makeup Revolution's wear time lasted longer, however, the mist application was not as fine as Urban Decay. If you can get over less control during the spray process, I think you will like how the less expensive setting spray holds up throughout the day. Buy our pick
*Both Tarte and Makeup Obsession claim to be cruelty-free. Makeup Maven, Kayla, found Tarte for $25 for 4oz and Makeup Obsession for $8 for 3.38oz. Kayla says: Both products come in a similar spray bottle with a similar mist. They are very lightweight on the face. Tarte smells like cucumbers & aloe while Makeup Obsession smells like pistachios or cherries. I love how both smell. The smell dissipates quickly once sprayed on the skin. Alcohol Denat is the 2nd ingredient in both products. This may be an irritant for someone with sensitive skin. Both have Aloe which helps with dry skin that the Alcohol may give you. I am combo dry with an oily t zone by the end of most days the oil comes through the most on my nose. Both setting sprays kept most of the oil on my nose at bay for a whole 12 hours. Tarte claims your makeup won’t settle into fine lines throughout the day but after a humid 12 hour day, I did have some creasing in my smile lines. Both products are great products but price wise Makeup Obsession is much cheaper, where would you go wrong switching over?! Buy our pick
Both of these brands are cruelty-free, but NYX’s parent company, L’Oreal, is not. A great alternative to Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray. It lasted all night with minimal oily-ness and kept makeup in place. Urban Decay was just a touch more mattifying but both did an excellent job keeping makeup in place. Buy our pick
